Resident complains about roadworks in her street

I have tried calling the Ekurhuleni call centre who referred me to another number (It just rings with no response).

There is currently construction/roadwork being carried out on Lincoln Road, Generaal Albertspark. We as the residents were never informed about this.

We just saw construction workers digging up the road a few weeks ago and it’s become increasingly difficult to drive to our properties safely, without damaging our motor vehicles. Yesterday with the rain, I couldn’t get to my house and I had to park in the adjoining street and walk home which was also risky as I could not be sure how deep the water stood in certain parts. I have tried calling the Ekurhuleni call centre who referred me to another number (It just rings with no response).

Can you please assist in getting the people responsible to sort out our issues?

RECORD posed the following questions to the EMM:

RECORD: What is the protocol with a situation like this?

EMM: For a road or street to be reconstructed, it has to be box-catted first.

RECORD: Why was nobody informed about this?

EMM: All our projects are communicated to the relevant ward councilor.

RECORD: What is the problem and what is being done?

EMM: There’s no problem. The contractor can’t work on wet areas/material.

RECORD: How long is it expected to take?

EMM: Pending the end of rain, but the project is programmed to finish by December 14.
