Ane’s last known whereabouts

Last seen at the road house in Alberton North in the early hours of Sunday morning.

ANÉ Jacobs (16) who was murdered sometime between Sunday, October 30 and Tuesday, November 1, was last seen at the road house in Aberton North.

Previous reports of her being seen leaving Y-NOT Pub / Club in Seventh Avenue, Alberton North, early on the Sunday morning are apparently untrue.

Her body was found in an open veld on Tuesday, November 1. Police report that there was visible bruising to Ane’s  face, which could have been caused by an unknown object.

The RECORD spoke to the owner of Y-NOT, Lynette Odendal who said she had no idea who the girl was but that friends alleged that Ané was at the club on Saturday, October 29 with a couple of friends.

She told the RECORD that although no under 18’s are served alcohol, everybody is allowed in the club. Lynette further told the RECORD that the venue is registered as a restaurant and therefore anybody is allowed in but under aged children are never allowed near the bar area.

Lynette allowed the RECORD to view video footage from the evening. Video footage shows a girl, who was believed to be Ané, leaving the club with some of her friends at about 00:30 on Sunday, October 30. This cannot be confirmed.

Her friend, Stephane du Plessis posted on Facebook over the weekend: “ Hi almal my vriendin Ane Jacobs is weg, niemand weet waar sy is nie! As enige iemand dalk enige informasie het van haar laat weet my groot asb …”

Stephane’s post also mentions that Ané was last seen at the road house in Alberton North.

It is unclear what happened between the time they left the club and when Ané was last seen and whom she was with.

Anybody with any information is requested to contact the investigating officer Captain Redelinghuis on 083 459 6877 or Alberton SAPS on 011 861 6800.

*RECORD journalist is presently conducting an interview with Stephane and we are also in contact with SAPS and the family.  A follow-up will follow shortly.

The RECORD wishes to apologise to Lynette Odendal (owner of Y-NOT) for any inconvenience suffered due to allegations previously published.
