UPDATE: Woman shocked by discovery of Ane’s body

NSPCA member Grace de Lange shares details about the discovery of the 16-year-old's body.

SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Ané Jacobs’ body was found on Tuesday, November 1, in a veld close to the Alberton rugby and soccer clubs.

The body was found by the manager of the Farm Animals Unit for the NSPCA, Grace de Lange, and not a member of the Alberton SPCA as initially reported.

“I was just sitting down for lunch at a spot I usually use, close to the Alberton Rugby Club, when two elderly men came walking towards me with their dogs. I was wanting to ask about one of the dogs they had with them, but one of the men started trying to explain something in very broken English,” recalled Grace.

“I could make something out along the lines of ‘a broken neck’, they showed that I should come with them. I thought I was going to be shown a dead dog or something, but coming closer, I realised that it was too big for that, then saw that it was a human body laying there,” said a distraught Grace.

“It’s a terrible thing, a real shock to the system, it’s hard to even put into words,” she added.

Police have been asked for comment.
