We have had a problem with a leaking water meter for so long already and the Ekurhuleni Municipality is doing absolutely nothing about it.
My initial call to report the leak was on September 3 and I have done weekly follow-ups with the call centre and every time it gets escalated.
Then I was told the team leader will call me, which never happened.
I called again to follow up and was told that the request was completed on September 29.
All requests to speak to a manager or someone in the know are unsuccessful.
They apply water restrictions, and fine people thousands of Rands if they may contravene the restrictions, but they waste more than anyone else.
They tell us: “use less water”, “save water”, “our rivers are dry”, “save every drop”, “water is life”, etc., but they are the biggest culprits.
While clean water goes to waste, I am liable for the bill .
Is this the service I voted for? The service that was promised us?

RECORD contacted the EMM and they were able to comment just before going to print, by saying: “Job has been completed, leak was repaired.” – Themba Gadebe, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality spokesperson.
