The Bag Lady

I spotted a "green" milk bottle in Woolworths and had to find out what was behind the green label.

I spotted another Christmas tree in Edgars The Glen Shopping Centre, last week. It was white and looked so pretty, but up to now there doesn’t seem to be too many Christmas decorations around, or gifts for that matter. I’ll give it another week and I’m sure we’ll be seeing lots more festive goods on the shelves.

Time to bake your Christmas cakes

I baked my Christmas cake last weekend, two actually. The aroma of the brandy soaked fruit smelt amazing and I did feel a sense of achievement when they were baked. Now every week I’ll dose them with a couple of spoons of brandy and by Christmas they will be deliciously moist.

Water wise

The rain isn’t happening and now is the time to really be cautious with water usage. I’ve decided to put a plastic bucket into the shower while I wash, and then I can use the water for the garden. Especially the roses as they quite like soapy water. Have you got any other water saving tips? Email to juliem@caxton.co.za and I can share them with our readers.

A first for dairy in SA

I was quite surprised when I bought my milk the other day from Woolworths and saw the wrapper on the bottle was green! The plastic bottle is 100 per cent recyclable and 30 per cent of the bottle is plant-based, made from Brazilian sugarcane, a renewable raw-material source that reduces dependence on oil-based alternatives. The plant-based plastic for the green bottle has a carbon negative footprint. Well done Woolies on taking the lead!

Beautiful you

Edgars is a stockist of the Beauty Factory range and the Earth Bound Cloud Nine products are divine. Luxury Hand Wash and Luxury Hand and Body Lotion each cost R89.90. Perfect for a birthday or a Christmas gift.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop!
