Santa Shoebox Project proudly celebrates its 10th birthday

Pledging opens on September 1.

SANTA Shoebox Project is celebrating its 10th birthday.

In the 10 years since the project began in a suburban home, it has distributed 551 979 personalised shoeboxes to children across South Africa and Namibia. More than 50 per cent of those shoeboxes reached children in far flung rural areas.

Pledging opens on September 1. Donors can log onto the website and pick the recipient for their box. Choose your drop off area and then choose a name off the site.

This means each gift is personally for a specific child, and each donor will know the age, gender and clothing size of the particular child they have chosen.

Each box needs to contain eight items, namely an outfit of clothing, a toy, educational supplies, a sweet, a face cloth, soap, toothpaste and a toothbrush. The drop off this year is October 28 – 30.
