Caring parent gives boys a new start
Get involved as a sponsor for these motivated youngsters.
CHILDREN of Eden Park Extension Four consider themselves very lucky to have parents who care about their well-being.
Here every parent is a mother or father to every child on the streets and one such parent is Glen Jonkers.
Glen decided that he needed to do something to keep the youngsters out of mischief and at the end of March he started a soccer team to keep the boys busy.
“We don’t have a recreation centre in Eden Park. I realised that our children have nothing to do after school, over the weekend and during school holidays. Thus, I decided to start a soccer team for the boys. Every boy was very keen and eager to be part of the team and at the beginning of April, Golden Boys FC was born and we are doing well on the field,” said Glen.
“The team, with players mostly u.11, has played against Eden Mews Flats Football Club and the Lambretta team and won both games,” a proud Glen continued.
“I have been scouting for sponsorship to buy soccer kits and through God’s grace, we obtained one. At the moment we borrow kits from other teams, but soon this will come to an end when we receive our own kit. I, on behalf of the boys, plead with our business people to help with sponsorship to develop these highly motivated boys,” said Glen.
