Albert celebrates his 100th birthday

He still walks 10km weekly.

ALBERT Howe of Riemvasmaak Extension Five celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday, April 16. This son of Africa celebrated his birthday in style in the company of his fellow ZCC church members.

Although he has reached the ripe age of 100, Albert still enjoys walking the five kilometres to church in Tokoza and the five kilometres back to Eden Park. ā€œI am still at it like a young man. The long walk to church keeps me fit,ā€ he said. Albert told the RECORD that he is the father of eight children and was born in the then Potgietersrus in Limpopo, before he moved to Gauteng as a young man seeking work.

ā€œI am in good health and love to eat healthy. My respect for my elders and Godā€™s mercy keeps me alive. I am thankful to my church sisters for organising a party for me,ā€ said the ever laughing Albert.

ā€œHe is very quiet and a man of his words, but still as fit as men half his age. We are very happy together,ā€ said his wife Maria (60).

The birthday party was organised by an old age and orphanage organisation named Redeemed, Loved and Honoured. They take care of the frail and aged residents and orphans. Any help or sponsorships are welcome. Contact the chairwoman, Makhumalo on 076 039 3671 for more information.
