IT is a shortcut used by many but is notorious for the dangers lurking there.
The shortcut from the Eden Park Community Hall leading to Stoneridge Primary School in Daimler Street is a no-go zone.
On 14 February, a grandmother and her two grandchildren were walking through this shortcut at about 08:15 when a knife-wielding thug stopped and threatened them.
According the Eden Park SAPS, the perpetrator started searching the granny, demanding her cellphone, which she did not have, and he then decided to take her shoes.
The owner of S27 Tavern, which is only a few metres from the robbery scene, noticed what was going on and shouted at the suspect, who then dropped the shoes and ran off.
A case of attempted armed robbery has been opened but no arrests have yet been made.
