8th Day set to enthrall audiences at Gold Reef City

8th Day, co-founded by brothers Shmuel and Bentzi Marcus, is currently one of the most sought after music acts.

THE Lyric at Gold Reef City is proud to announce that pioneering Jewish rock group, 8th Day, will be showcasing their iconic new album, “Inner Flame”, for one night only, in what promises to be a spectacular concert, on Sunday, February 21 at 19:00.

8th Day, co-founded by brothers Shmuel and Bentzi Marcus, is currently one of the most sought after music acts. With their latest hit album, the group has now released six studio albums and have been top sellers on the folk music, alternative rock and Jewish music charts.

Their hit music video for Ya’alili has over three million views on YouTube. They followed that up with more fan favorites like All You Got, Hooleh! and now their latest hit video, Celebrate.

The band got their start in Southern California where the Marcus brothers grew up in a very musical, Orthodox Jewish home. Their first shows were for small local community events, and performing for friends and family. As their music started to gain recognition, they paired up with well known local musicians; popular rock drummer Rosy Rosenquist, Grammy nominated bassist Philip Bynoe, Klezmer aficionado Leo Chelyapov and began touring in earnest in 2007.

8th Day’s fresh and unique sound is complimented by their poetic lyrics and spirited vocal harmonies. What started as a fun family project, has now become a global phenomenon as their fan base continues to grow all over the world.

The trailblazing band have played hundreds of sold out concerts across the globe with stops in Australia, Europe, Israel, Asia, South Africa, Canada, the Caribbean Islands and all over the United States.

“We pride ourselves in hosting some of the world’s most exciting entertainment acts. Hosting 8th Day at Gold Reef City once again demonstrates our commitment to bringing our guests the very best in world-class entertainment,” said Gold Reef City marketing manager, Gareth Kaschula.
