Dagga in high school learner’s bag

Eden Park SAPS is making an appeal to parents to ensure that they know what is in their children's school bags.

EDEN Park SAPS in partnership with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) visited Eden Park high schools on Tuesday, February 2, to search classrooms and children’s bags for drugs and weapons.

A packet of so-called “ready-made” dagga which is dagga already rolled into cigarettes and ready to smoke, was found in a girl’s school bag. The owner of the bag of dagga, however, was later identified as another boy and he was subsequently taken to the police station.

“The boy’s parents were called and the boy was given a warning. He was then referred to the social workers. We are pleading with all parents to always search their children’s school bags,” Constable Mita Badi said.
