MONICA Steele does not know where to turn as no one seems willing to help her stop the water leak next to her flat in Crothall House complex in Springfield.

She said it is over three years now. “I have been almost everywhere seeking help. I have several reference numbers that I obtained from Joburg Water. Water is infiltrating my foundation. You should see at night, it is like a concert with frogs croaking and unbearable mosquitoes. Water is a precious commodity and is very scarce, why don’t they come and fix this? I really ran out of avenues now, I don’t know what to do,” explained Monica.

Eleanor Mavimbela, Joburg Water external communication officer, said she checked the three reference numbers and they were logged in 2014 and they were all for different reasons. “The system shows that all three calls were attended to and closed thereafter. I have since re-logged the call as a leaking pipe,” she said before adding that a new reference number had been issued.
