Precious water runs down the street

“This water has been running down the street since 2014. It is a waste of clean precious water. The leak has been reported to the council but up to now it has not been repaired,” said a resident, Amelia Peterson.

“Council workers once arrived to check the leak, then dug a hole and reported that there was an illegal connection to the supply pipe. They just closed the hole, left and never returned. Who is responsible for the illegal connection which is causing water to be wasted? Why did council not disconnect it and fine the person responsible so that the problem could be solved,” Peterson asked.

The RECORD is awaiting comment from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM).
