R33 800 cash confiscated in drug bust

More than R30 000 was confiscated when a woman found in possession drugs valued at approximately R9 000 was arrested on Tuesday, November 24.

EDEN PARK – A joint effort of EMPD K9 and EMPD Germiston Crime Prevention Task Team members with SAPS Crime Intelligence Unit members morning yielded an arrest of a woman found in possession of the drug cat valued at approximately R9 000.

Cash amounting to R33 800 was also confiscated when the arrest was made at 11h50 in Eden Park.

EMPD Spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago said in a statement, “Armed with information gathered on the suspected drug dealings at a house on Ariel Street in Extension 5 Eden Park.

“Law enforcers raided the house and confiscated not less than one-hundred ziplocks of cat and hard cash believed to be proceeds from the drug sales. Three IDs and two passports suspected to be a form of surety from clients were also confiscated.”

The arrested 46-year-old woman was charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances at Eden Park police station. She is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court later today, November 25.
