A SCANIA horse-and-trailer truck full of plasma television sets was hijacked by an unknown number of assailants on Thursday night, November 12, in Alberton.

A joint effort by the EMPD Loss Control, SAPS Rapid Response officers as well as Tracker personnel resulted in the truck being recovered in Olifantsfontein on Friday, November 13, at 10h15.

It is suspected the truck was parked in an area where it could not give out signals of its location. The truck was found abandoned with its load of plasma television sets missing. “Authorities are in search of the driver who has been missing since Thursday night when the truck was hijacked. Investigations are underway to apprehend the suspects who are still at large,” said Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, the EMPD spokesperson.
