The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) is aware of a power outage that is affecting residents in Alberton, Germiston and Nigel.
RECORD journalist, Jacobus Myburgh, phoned Clr Estelle Visser of Ward 38, whose areas include Brackenhurst, Brackendowns, Albertsdal and Meyersdal (south of Heart Avenue).
She said she can’t assist as she is at the Democratic Alliance’s office in Boksburg and advised Myburgh to phone the the EMM Call Centre.
One operator said the power outage is because of a cable fault at a substation but refused to go into detail. She did mention that technicians are working towards finding a solution.
Some residents can expect to be without power till about 18:00 tonight.
Some readers have told the RECORD, on its Facebook page, that areas which are currently out include Brackenhurst, Brackendowns, Albertsdal, Meyersdal, Randhart, Alrode and Mayberry Park.
