The Bag Lady

See what The bag lady has been up to last week.

If you read my column last week you would have read my Bouquet of the Week. Well, Renu Williams, sent this to me: “I read your column every week diligently and I had to email you after reading your bouquet to Vincent Khabane. I work in Meyersdal and stop at the Sasol at least once every week. He never fails to greet and smile and really brightens up my day.

“In this time when sullen and surly service seems to be the norm, he really is a beacon.  I do hope his employers appreciate an employee of his calibre.” You go Vincent!

Café La Plume

On Saturday I went along to the opening of a new coffee shop in Glenanda, Café La Plume. Although situated a little off the beaten track, I think this lovely coffee shop will become popular and provide a delightful meeting place for friends and family. Owned by Tracy Manning and her mom, Vernice Cockerill, the décor is country French and very pleasing to the eye.

The menu offers breakfasts, light meals, lunches, sweet treats and beverages, cold and hot. The prices are very competitive with other eateries and we really enjoyed our lunch there. They also sell a variety of biscuits and rusks as well as jams and condiments. Café La Plume is situated at 17 Joan Road, Glenanda and opens Tuesday to Saturday from 09:00 to 16:00.
