PHOTO’S: Watch out for criminals in Alberton

The Alberton CPF recently had their monthly meeting where they discussed some daily challenges regarding criminal activities.

CRIME hot spots in and around Alberton was the focal point at a recent Community Police Forum (CPF) meeting held at the Alberton Police Station.

During the meeting, CPF members of the Greater Alberton’s three CPF sectors spoke about the daily challenges which they are facing with regards to criminal activities.

Some of the major concerns discussed included smash-and-grabs, especially on the corner of Potgieter Street and Old Vereeniging Road in Alrode.

The CPF said people driving on this and other roads, especially during the early hours of the morning and the late afternoons, should be extra careful and more vigilant as this is the peak times when criminals pounce on unsuspecting motorists.

Motorists who are driving alone are also more vulnerable to fall victim to this type of crime.

Another concern is the amount of housebreaking incidents during the day. The CPF has noticed that there has been a rise in housebreaking from 06:00 to 18:00 when most of the people are still at work.

Theft of vehicles and valuables from vehicles are another headache for the CPF and they urge motorists to ensure that their vehicles are properly locked and safely parked. Any valuables should also be placed out of sight such as under the seats or in the boot of the vehicle.

The police and security companies, together with the CPF, are trying their best to arrest the perpetrators.
