Hijackers’ plans foiled on R59

The suspects pulled in next to a truck driver, flagging him down and pointing to his tyres.

ALBERANTE — Swift action by a motorist thwarted the plans of three alleged hijackers yesterday afternoon August 13.

Tyrone van der Merwe, spokesperson for CPS Security, said three men in a white Toyota Corolla got the attention of the driver in a white truck on the R59 behind the Alberante area just after 12:00.

“According to the driver, the suspects pulled in next to him and flagged him down. They were pointing to his tyres, after which he stopped in the emergency lane,” he said.
