Must watch in 2016 – The Voice is coming to SA

Move over Idols, because there’s a new singing competition coming to town and if it’s anything like the US version, it’s bound to rock our socks off!

M-Net have finally announced that The Voice SA is heading to our screens. Speaking out at a press junket, M-Net’s CEO, Yolisa Phahle, said,

“As we approach our 30th anniversary, I’m thrilled to share with you of a major new series we will bring to M-Net in 2016, The Voice SA, exclusive to channel 101,”, and added, “It’s the most successful talent reality show in the world and I think it’s the perfect show to take M-Net into its next 30 years,”

And although American Idols was cancelled by Fox network after its 15th season, it’s clear The Voice franchise isn’t going anywhere any time soon, as it’s been renewed for a 12th season in 2016.

What hasn’t been revealed, though, is who will be chosen as the four celebrity judges to sit in those red swivel chairs… So we decided to give our top picks of who we think deserves to take a seat:

Graeme Watkins (aka Adam Levine)

Not only is he good looking, but it was also a singing competition that boosted him to stardom in the first place.

Graeme was runner up in season five of Idols and later formed his own alternative rock band, called The Graeme Watkins Project, so it’s only fitting he take over the reins from Adam Levine, who is also lead singer of his band, Maroon 5.

ChianoSky (aka Christina Aguilera)

Possibly one of the most talented female vocalists in the country, ChianoSky’s vocal range resembles that of Christina’s. She’s sexy, cute and spunky.

Plus, she’s been in the industry since she was 16, so she knows how to handle all the pressures that come with being a singer.

Loyiso Bala (aka Pharrell Williams)

There’s nothing Pharrell Williams can’t do that won’t turn to gold. And the same might be said for Loyiso Bala.

Although he has been pretty quiet over the years, he’s a diverse musician with a long list of local chart toppers.

And like Pharrell, Loyiso is also a producer, having won the Best Producer SAMA award in 2008, so he’s the perfect fit.

Alan Ladd (aka Blake Shelton)

For those that don’t know who we are talking about, meet Alan Ladd… SA’s greatest country singer.

He’s won numerous awards, including a SAMA award for best country singer in 2008, and all of his albums have gone gold within weeks of them being released. Could he be our very own Blake Shelton? We think so!
