Alberton security company becomes latest crime victim

On Thursday, June 18, a prominent security company in Alberton also became a statistic of crime in South Africa.

ALBERTON – After receiving a call from one of their clients, the Fox Security control room dispatched an armed response unit and two tactical response units. The client informed the control room that a man’s life was being threatened and they needed medical and police assistance.

On the scene, a reaction officer found a man dressed in shorts, a T-shirt and cardigan. He was bare foot and armed with a pair of scissors.

The reaction officer was waiting for assistance from the SAPS and paramedics when he was distracted.

While inspecting an electric fence nearby, the suspect jumped into the officer’s vehicle and drove off.

At that moment, a second tactical vehicle arrived on the scene, just in time to see the reaction officer running after his car.

The stolen car’s tracking unit was activated and the car was followed to Duncanville, Vereeniging. The vehicle was recovered and the suspect arrested.

“Big thanks go out to SAPS K9 Unit Vereeniging, SAPS Gauteng Air Wing, Brackendowns SAPS, Brackendowns CPF and Alberton CPF,” said Willem Foord, Fox Security spokesperson.

He also added that they have learned a valuable lesson; never leave keys in the ignition or leave your car idling when assisting the community.
