Migrants swarm to police station

Large groups of migrants going to the Eden Park Police Station hold the possibility of a new form of fraud among police officials.

EDEN PARK  – For the last three weeks, migrants have flocked to this police for fingerprinting and clearance before proceeding to the Home Affairs office, in Pretoria.

According to Capt Vusi Mohlophe, they may have to stop the process, because the possibility exists that a new form of fraud has arisen among police officials.

It is suspected that some officials are charging migrants for this service and Mohlophe said that they have been instructed from the top to stop the process.

A fleet of minibus taxis could be seen parked near the police station, ready to transport migrants to Home Affairs.
