EMM hosts Career Expo

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) will be hosting a two day career expo on June 9 and 10, at the Alberton Civic Centre, from 08:00 to 16:30.

ALBERTON – The expo will be followed by a job summit on Thursday, June 11, at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre in Boksburg.

The three day programme aims to provide young people with an opportunity to interact with different companies which will be holding exhibitions. There will also be an opportunity for people to register their CVs on the Ekurhuleni unemployed youth database.

The database is currently used by the municipality to assist unemployed graduates by placing them in Youth Work Readiness Placement programmes and other skills development and related entrepreneurship development programmes.

Career advisory services and a computer lab with internet connection for those who do not have access to resources to develop their CVs are just some of the facilities which will be provided.

Stakeholders the municipality has partnered with will present their skills development and training opportunities, including bursaries and learnership programmes.

Job creation, business opportunities in Ekurhuleni, improving and up-scaling initiatives for youth employment and enhancing job creation are among the topics speakers will address at the job summit.

The event will end with a gala dinner at Birchwood Hotel, where an awards ceremony will take place to recognise the companies which have been involved in community development projects.

Residents are encouraged to bring their CVs and can visit their nearest Customer Care Center to book for free transport to the expo.

For more information, members of the public and companies wishing to partake can contact Colin Ramogale on (011) 999 7747/0654 or Colin.Ramogale@ekurhuleni.gov.za
