Accident claims life of a seven-year-old girl
A seven-year-old girl tragically lost her life during an accident on the R554 Swartkoppies Road, near Kliprivier Road in Rispark, on Monday afternoon, May 18.
JOHANNESBURG – A seven-year-old girl tragically lost her life during an accident on the R554 Swartkoppies Road, near Kliprivier Road in Rispark, on Monday afternoon, May 18.
Exact details surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events are still unclear and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the lifeless body of a young girl lying on the road, after she was knocked over by a motor vehicle while crossing the road. Upon assessment of the young girl, paramedics found that she had died prior to their arrival, due to extensive injuries sustained and she was declared dead at the scene.
Michelle Pelser from Mondeor CPF said that when patrollers arrived, the mother of the little girl was in shock and sitting on the side of the road.
“I was told that the children were running and the little seven-year-old was battling to keep up. Apparently her brother was going back to fetch her when this tragic incident took place. We want to express our sincere condolences to the family of the girl, may she rest in peace,” said Pelser.
