New drainage system for SPCA

Construction has started at the Alberton SPCA and the society will soon have an upgraded drainage system to keep their animals happy and healthy.

ALBERTON – Upgrading the drainage system is something the Alberton SPCA has wanted to do for many years, and the process to get to the final stages has been a long one.

Some visitors to the kennels might have noticed that there has always been water everywhere, as a result of the insufficient system in place.

“Delfos Construction gave us a very competitive quote on completely overhauling our system, which will make an extremely noticeable difference,” Lauren Marthens, spokesperson for SPCA Alberton, explained.

The new drainage system will help to control diseases in the kennels and make for a pleasurable experience for visitors.

Each kennel will have its own drain, so waste will run straight into the drain and sewers.

The construction will take more or less eight weeks, but the Alberton SPCA is still open for business as they will do a section at a time. This will also ensure that animals feel less stress.

“We ask any visitors to bear with us, and we are confident the end-results will be worth it.

“Alberton SPCA would like to extend an enormous thank you to Nevada Construction in Voortrekker Street for their extremely generous donation of R60 000 towards the building work.

“Anyone else interested in donating towards this extremely important project can donate into our ABSA current bank account, account number 1024471574,” Lauren added.
