Boxing Academy reopens

Fighters Boxing Academy, one of the most centrally located boxing clubs in Gauteng, which was founded in 1990, has reopened at a new venue under the auspices of Duppie du Plooy.

ALBERTON – Duppie, who is the nephew of boxing great Johnny du Plooy, has reopened the club at the Bertha Solomon’s Centre, ideally located between City Deep near Alberton in the South on the one side and in the Central Johannesburg East as gateway to the East Rand on the South-Eastern side.

Duppie du Plooy, a qualified trainer, coach and boxing judge, brought with him a 25 year legacy of the club.

Boxers from all ages and weight classes are invited to join, and women boxers are also welcome. Training nights are from Mondays to Thursdays (four training nights) between 18:00 and 19:30.

The club also boasts with facilities for body building and fitness classes. Some promising boxers like Narco Pata are already part of the Du Plooy-stable.

The club hasn’t forgot the past, and the training facilities are decorated with unique boxing memorabilia, images and posters of the bygone golden era of SA boxing. It looks like a boxing museum, and just for this a visit will be worth all the effort.

Feel free to contact Duppie or Chantelle du Plooy on 084 598 5026 or 084 0306 973 for any enquiries.
