Ekurhuleni Youth Indaba

Substance abuse, unprotected sex, crime, unemployment and other social ills threaten the development and advancement of many young people.

Hundreds of youths from all over Ekurhuleni gathered to tackle these issues affecting their daily lives at the Youth Indaba held by the City of Ekurhuleni and Gauteng Youth Ministries in Tsakane over the March 28 to 29 weekend.

Representatives from the City’s Economic Development Department, the NYDA and Big Break Legacy spoke to the youth about opportunities available for them.

“There are a lot of investors and business people who have invested their time and money towards ensuring that the youth of Ekurhuleni realises its dreams.

Young people need to always be on the lookout for opportunities that can benefit them,” said Sthembiso Garane from the Economic Development Department.

Seipati “Twasa” Seoke of Lesedi FM left the youth wanting more, after a moving sermon about being true to oneself and following your dreams, while Ndaba Mandela spoke on how HIV and AIDS have affected his life. He cautioned the youth about the dangers of engaging in unprotected sex and encouraged everyone to know their HIV status.
