February municipal council meeting

The second ordinary sitting of the municipal council occurred in Germiston on Thursday, February 26.

The council was addressed by the executive mayor councillor Mondli Gungubele.

In his address, the executive mayor made mention of scholar transport safety, illegal miners, the Aerotropolis program and hosting the Aircargo Africa Conference and Exhibition.

The executive mayor also addressed the issue of load shedding, applauding the government’s admittance of the seriousness of the challenge to be faced. He praised the Bidvest partnership agreement that is reportedly fixing potholes all over the city.

Cllr Gungubele stated that he was excited to announce the hosting of a supplier day at Alberton Civic Centre in service of the PRASA/Gibela Stock Project. The supplier day will be taking place on March 12 for domestic suppliers to be orientated on opportunities presented by the rolling stock project.

The date that ground will be broken to begin construction will be announced at the State of the City address in March.
