Could you be the next Green & Glam Goddess?

Miss Earth SA is busy with a nationwide search for the next Green and Glam Goddess and hoping to find her in your province!

ALBERTON – It is that time of the year again when we are on the lookout for our new Green and Glam Goddesses for 2015.

Since planting their 20 000th tree in 2012, the Miss Earth South Africa organisation has come a long way, having recently won the International Environmental Programme Award for Women in the Environment, which was presented in the Philippines last year, these young women are making waves all over the world.

The current Miss Earth SA Ilze Saunders and the Miss Earth SA National Director Catherine Constantinides accompanied the Honourable Minister of Environmental Affairs Mrs Edna Molewa as part of the official delegation to Lima, Peru in December last year for the UNFCCC COP 20.

With this environmental exposure and being involved in discussions around the new Sustainable Development Goals launching this year in place of the Millennium Development Goals, the programme continues to grow in leaps and bounds. This initiative is to develop young environmentalists trying to make a difference in South Africa and abroad.

Ella Bella and Catherine Constantinides are the founders of the Miss Earth South Africa leadership programme in which they inspire and encourage young women around our beautiful country to get involved and do their bit for people and the planet.

They often say; “It starts with us and as women we are the movers and shakers of communities, so it’s up to us to shake things up and get people thinking about ways in which they can help Mother Earth. When we look after Mother Earth she is able then to continue to look after us.”

April 8 is the closing date for applications just before the National Castings begin. Starting in the Free State on the April 11 to 12, then on to Johannesburg on April 18 to 19. The Earth team then move to the Western Cape on April 24 to 25, and lastly to Kwa-Zulu Natal over the first weekend of May 1 to May 2.

These castings are interviews and workshop sessions, where each applicant is exposed to issues of the environment and ways in which they can contribute and be involved if they proceed to the next round of the Miss Earth.

A project day is also part of these castings, and you are able to engage with the community and make a direct impact. Each lady goes away feeling empowered and educated on the plight facing the environment. Are you ready to do your bit to not only reduce, re-use and recycle but also to actively become involved in the Green Revolution?

Apply and allow the programme to develop and equip you accordingly. Join the initiative and help communities to change behaviour and bad habits for the improvement of the environment and for a better way of living.

The Miss Earth SA programme is about the green and glamour and the impact young ladies can make in their communities and schools around South Africa. If there are passionate young souls ready to volunteer and dedicate time to people and planet… apply and share today.
