No to the wellness clinic

Letter to the developer of Brackendowns Shopping Centre: As a citizen of Breakdowns for the last 30plus odd years, I personally am shocked and dismayed at you and your clients' way of trying to bulldoze your way into our community and disrupting it by trying to remove a very central and convenient shopping centre in order to replace it with, of all things, a mental institution.

ALBERTON – I personally only heard by chance of your intentions from the owners of one of the shops still in existence, while waiting for the revamp to be completed.

The way that you conduct your business only confirms that your intentions are not in the least bit ethical, and you are trying to minimise the knowledge of this transformation to the citizens of Brackendowns.

Why was your notification for your intent not publicised properly by letter or postal flyers? Instead a small A4 notice conspicuously dropped off i.e as little as possible advertising so you can push it into existence with no objections.

Not only are you disrupting us from a central shopping centre, but you are not even considering the impact that a mental facility will have on the community and area. Nobody will want to stay near it, consequently our properties will devalue dramatically.

We were all very excited by the future up valuation of our properties, because of the opening of the Mall of the South, and there are many property owners who are upgrading in lieu of this development.

We urgently request that you reconsider your plans. Alternatively, approach the citizens of Brackendows in writing to obtain what they think of your plans before going ahead with your development.

My vote is NO!
