Bad municipal services

Themba Gadebe wrote an article in the Alberton RECORD of October 8, wherein he stated that we should phone the number on the back of the statement.

HA!!!HA!!!HA!!! This is laughable. Has he tried? I have now been dialling the Alberton Council number for two days and have not had a reply!

We do not have a postal service. We do not have a municipal service. Our roads are pathetic. Alberton is filthy and needs to be cleaned. Everyone is happy as long as we pay rates and taxes for services which are not delivered. For staff that do not answer telephones and force us to take time off from our work to have to go to the council offices to sort out a small problem, which could take five minutes or less on the phone. We have to lose at least two hours to sort out problems.

To top it all, rubbish bins get collected late every week. (Due to broken trucks!) Leaving scavengers making our town even more dirty and allowing thieves to walk around and case the areas as well.

Then we have water pipes bursting, we have power failures which apparently cause reservoirs to run dry. We have cable theft and have no electricity and we are expected to believe all these fairy tales. As I said, get your act together. Start doing maintenance. Start policing areas where pipes and cables get stolen. Shoot the thieves. Don’t put them in jail for one night and then release them!

Come on EMM, Alberton Post Offices, licensing departments, Alberton SAPS etc. It is time you get your act together and start making it a pleasure to deal with you and not always an uphill battle. You might find that clients become more pleasant and appreciate you if you do your work well.
