Alberton High raises R30 000 for charity

Alberton High School hosted its annual CHOC and CANSA fun day recently and kicked the day off with a walk around the field by all the learners for this worthy causes.

ALBERTON – Most of the money was raised from a raffle with the big prize of a one-hour helicopter ride from Rand Airport to Sandton and back. The school would like to thank Mr. Esterhuizen for his generous donation.

There were stalls selling muffins, cupcakes, samosas, candy floss, Chip ‘n Dip as well as fresh boerewors rolls – and don’t forget the entertainment stalls that included ‘spin the wheel’ and ‘throw the water balloon at the teacher’. Other entertainment included various water slides and the infamous Rocket, which were enjoyed by all in the heat of the day.

The basketball tournament was for ladies only, and the netball girls made great basketball players! The soccer tournament was a great success with 22 teams battling it out on the field.

A huge thank you to the organisers and the extremely generous sponsors: CNA, Dros at Lemon Tree, Plaçecol at The Glen, PNA, Spar, Pick ‘n Pay at New Redruth Centre and Panorama Media Corp for donating 1 000 “Teenzone” magazines!

The fun day was a great success and enjoyed by all. Alberton High is blessed to have many students who are dedicated to supporting these worthy causes.
