SPCA back on track

Alberton SPCA has recovered from the distemper outbreak and they would like to let the public know they are open again.

ALBERTON – The distemper outbreak that shocked the SPCA a few weeks back has been under control for a while now, and they have been open for the past three weeks.

They want the public to know that everything is back to normal.

The SPCA does however need the public’s assistance. They have plans to upgrade the kennels and possibly even create a quarantine area for sick animals so that in they are equipped to handle a virus in the future.

They would like to raise the walls of the kennels and upgrade the draining system. This will ensure a healthier and happier space for the dogs.

According to the SPCA manager the higher walls will not only prevent physical contact between the dogs that increases the risk of spreading the disease, but will also help make the space less stressful for the animals.

For these improvements to take place they would like to ask the public’s assistance. If anyone has building materials they would like to donate to the SPCA, please contact them. They would also need labour for these projects.
