Local expresses grievances on City’s electrical meter changes

A Brackenhurst resident has expressed his concerns on the City of Ekurhuleni’s developments on replacing electrical meters.

Why is Ekurhuleni replacing electrical meters when the old ones are still functioning properly?

If they say they are faulty, the question is have they tested them? Also, the fact that a meter is old does not automatically mean it is faulty.

They are not doing any kind of testing, not on the old meters nor the new prepaid meters, so how do they know if the new prepaid meters are not faulty?

Ekurhuleni is not fixing the roads, they are not fixing street lights that are permanently on and they are most certainly not even trying to get our power outages sorted out!

It is clear they do not work for the public but rather the public is working for them.

The wasting and misappropriation of taxpayers’ money must stop!

Ekurhuleni should rather be trying to get electricity from a more reliable, renewable energy company and at a better rate and also just start answering their phones!

CoE response

City spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said: “Most of the meters that are changed are Landis and Gyr meters. We changed them because of errors they show. There are also new Hexing meters that are changed due to a module problem.”
