Three hijackers arrested after high speed chase ends in accident

Three suspects were arrested by CPS security on March 12 connected to a hijacking in Bedfordview.

The first suspect was arrested at the Alberton Lifestyle Center. The other two suspects were arrested on the corner of Heidelberg and Swartkoppies roads after fleeing the scene.

This is the primary crime scene linked to the accident on the corner of Heidelberg and Swartkoppies roads.

According to Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director at CPS Security, they responded to an alert of a stolen Porche Cayenne and tracked the vehicle to the shopping centre. There they arrested the first suspect and set chase after the other two who fled the scene in a white Toyota Yaris.

The fleeing suspects were involved in the accident on the corner of Heidelberg and Swartkoppies roads that led to their arrest.

The suspects were all arrested with firearms in their possession. The keys of the Porche were found in possession of the first suspects.

According to Van der Merwe at least one of the suspects is wanted on a previous charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

No official comment has been received from SAPS yet.
