SPCA needs help from the community

SPCA need support from the community

None of the SPCAs receive any government funding for the work they do in the prevention of cruelty to animals. We are totally reliant on the general public to support us. At Alberton SPCA we hold a monthly fundraising meeting to discuss ideas and organise events. So far we’ve found the Dog Walks at Dukelinds Dog Park at Rietvlei have been popular, as well as our Open Days, but what would you, the public/our supporters, like us to organise? We do have various events planned for the year, but we can always add more or change our existing ones. At the SPCA you have to be flexible as you never know what might happen or come in that day, so any SPCA has to be flexible and so does its committee.

Please email us on albertonspca@yahoo.co.za with your ideas. In addition, if you would like to help on a fundraising subcommittee, then send through your details to the above address. We often need volunteers to help with contacting companies for example or promoting our events. It might only be March but we are already planning Christmas events and items, so again, if you can commit yourself to helping, let us know. The more the merrier!

While fundraising is mainly the responsibility of the committee, the staff too are heavily involved, as their wages and jobs depend on the funds we raise.

If you are unable to fundraise for us or assist, you can still sponsor a kennel, get a MySchool card or become a member of Alberton SPCA. Just inbox us for more details.

Finally, if you have donated to us recently and haven’t received a thank you, let us know. Sometimes the addresses in our Donation Book are hard to read and many emails get returned. We like to thank our supporters, because without you we wouldn’t be able to do the essential work we do.
