Accident survivor warns of dangerous bend on Kliprivier Drive

Shavon Archer lives to tell the tale and warns other drivers.

On the evening of February 4, a single-vehicle accident occurred on the Aspen Lakes turnoff on Kliprivier Drive.

Shavon Archer, a resident from Brackenhurst, was returning home after visiting her father at Mulbarton Hospital at around 8.30pm.

Upon taking the turnoff, she hit a puddle of water and lost control over her Chevrolet Spark, which then rolled up the embankment.

After checking herself for injuries, she crawled out of the car and attracted the help of other drivers by flashing the car’s headlights.

Deenen Coopa, a driver passing by, stopped and helped Shavon to safety and called an ambulance and the SAPS.

The ambulance transported Archer to Southrand Hospital, where her vitals were checked and it was assessed she had only obtained minor injuries.

She was released from the hospital and driven home by a family member.

Miraculously, Archer is alive to tell the tale, bruised, but with no broken bones or major injuries.

She has bruises on her knee, shoulder and lower back and while she is in pain she is deeply grateful to be alive.

According to Coopa, there have been many accidents on this bend and motorists need to be cautioned of the dangerous bend.

Similarly, Archer would also like to warn other motorists as the bend could lead to further accidents and fatalities.
