Fenton murder trial postponed to December 2

The state is yet to call their final witness, the state pathologist.

John du Plooy and Shaun Oosthuizen appeared in the Gauteng local division of the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on November 5 and 8.

The pair stand accused of the murder of Barbara Esme Fenton.

On the day, the state continued the calling of their witnesses, this time calling the fiancé of the third witness as their fourth witness.

The state asked the witness about his arrival at the deceased’s house as he was the first to enter the house after the incident

The witness corroborated the story of the third witness, stating that he found the victim after calling for a neighbour to come and check the house because he was concerned about the state of dress of the deceased.

According to the witness, as soon as he made the discovery of the body he locked the house until the authorities arrived.

The witness further stated that he accompanied the security who arrived to check for other entry points into the house.

On being asked by the state prosecutor, he confirmed that aside from the main entrance into the house the other entrances were all locked.

The case has been postponed until December 2 due to the state needing to call their final witness, the state pathologist who is currently in hospital. The two accused remain in custody.
