Biker dies in a crash on the R59

Johan Botma's family and friends are appealing to anyone with information regarding the accident to please contact police.

ON August 29 Johan Botma (45) died in an accident on the R59 south after colliding with the rear of an Opel light delivery vehicle on his motorcycle.

The accident took place at around 10.10pm. Botma reportedly had to swerve his bike to avoid an Audi sedan that was driving into oncoming traffic, on the wrong side of the highway.

EMPD has confirmed that a case of culpable homicide has been opened and that police are investigating the matter, which includes attempting to identify the driver of the Audi, who fled the scene of the accident.

Botma’s motorcycle hit a vehicle after reportedly swerving to avoid an Audi driving into oncoming traffic.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The family and friends of Botma have appealed to the community to assist police in finding as much information as possible regarding the accident and, if possible, to identify the driver of the Audi.
