Pit Bull powerlifters to represent SA

Pit Bull lifters represent SA.

TWO members of Pit Bull Gymnasium were selected to represent the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) South Africa powerlifting team at this yearā€™s 36th WPC World Championship.

This will be held at Lahti Sports and Fair Centre in SalpausselƤnkatu, Lahti, Finland, from November 6 to 10.

Coach Kobus Bester qualified for the world championship by winning the single-ply equipped powerlifting menā€™s master 1 u-82Ā½kg division at the nationals.

A week earlier he also won the Rhino Powerlifting nationals.

Bester has been a powerlifter now for 11 years.

Mark Esch, who has been a powerlifter for one year, won the WPC SA powerlifting RAW bench press single lift men master 3 u-140kg, taking the title a week earlier at the Rhino Powerlifting nationals.

Both lifters are coached by Colin du Bruyn from Pit Bull Gymnasium.

The lifters in general donā€™t get any assistance from the sport bodies and the club.

Pit Bull Gymnasium is appealing for any company or individuals to come forward and sponsor them in their endeavours as they will compete against the best in the world.

If you would like to make a contribution or sponsor these to athletes, please contact Kobus Bester on 076 332 1254.

The club will humbly appreciate any assistance and will do our utmost to achieve the highest awards.
