Resident concerned about the removal of big trees at Jacqueline Mall

'Trees had to be removed'

Six fully grown trees were recently cut down, without notice or any discussion with the local residents.

This destruction happened on February 28 opposite residential homes in Etienne Le Roux Street, Randhart, at Jacqueline Mall. There are contractors on site.

What is going on there, and is this allowed?

Concerned Albertonian

*The RECORD contacted Rita Nelson, the caretaker from Jacqueline Mall, and she replied:

“We are renovating and expanding the mall. Before all of that can be done we need to move stormwater drains before we can start building. It was one of the requirements of the municipality. The trees on Jacqueline Mall’s property had to be removed to allow access to the drains,” she said.
