Dagga-peddling in Palm Ridge, two arrested, including repeat offender

One of the arrested suspects was nabbed on a similar charge in November 2018 and given a fine of R4 000 after conviction.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit, in conjunction with the SAPS Crime Intelligence members, arrested two suspects in Palm Ridge for possession and dealing in dagga.

The arrest took place on February 12 at 10.45am. One of the arrested suspects was nabbed on a similar charge in November 2018 and given a fine of R4 000 after conviction.

Responding to a tip-off, the police swooped on a house on Mhlanga Street in Extension Five in Palm Ridge whereupon one plastic bag of loose dagga, 16 ziplock bags of dagga, 62 dagga pokes and over R400 in cash were seized.

The dagga seized is estimated to be valued at R4 000. Two male local suspects were found in possession of dagga on the premises and were arrested.

The arrested pair, aged 23 and 24, were locked up at Eden Park SAPS, and charged with possession and dealing in dagga.

They are expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
