Foreign nationals face charges of possession of Cat

The suspects were stopped and searched, where suspected drugs were found.

ON January 11 members of Alberton SAPS who were on crime prevention patrol spotted three suspicious-looking individuals.

The officers stopped the individuals and asked them if they may be searched. Permission was granted by the suspects and upon searching them the officers found 22 small packets of what was expected to be Cat.

The substance is at forensic offices to determine the exact nature of the substance.

If suspicions of the nature of the substances are true, the packets have a total estimated street value of R3 000.

Upon their arrest, an amount of R870 was confiscated from the suspects, who were confirmed to be foreign nationals.

“The suspects were dealt with professionally and will face their alleged criminal activities in the local court of law on January 14,” said Capt Manare Ramotshela, spokesperson for Alberton SAPS, on behalf of station commander Col Phuti Sekoma.

The suspects were charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances.

“Criminals must seek greener pastures somewhere else. We are here to fight crime. Gauteng will not be the same again,” said Ramotshela.
