Woman arrested for unlicensed firearm in Eden Park

The 37 year-old woman was arrested for the possession of .38 revolver with live rounds.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members came across a loaded unlicensed firearm while searching a house in Corona Street, Eden Park.

The search took place on Wednesday, July 25, during an early morning drug operation. A woman in the house was arrested at 7.16am.

The 37-year-old woman was arrested for the possession of .38 revolver with live rounds. Preliminary investigations pointed to the firearm having been stolen in the Vaal area in January 2014, with a Barrage SAPS case number.

The arrested suspect was expected to face charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Friday, July 29, in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

DANGEROUS: This unlicensed .38 revolver was found with live rounds.
