Fed up with lack of service

We are receiving final demands – always on time - but no service.

I am tired and frustrated with our municipality. They are always on time to send out bills and final warnings, but we get no proper service in return.

We installed a new water meter after being advised by Ekurhuleni that ours was faulty since the beginning of 2017. The meter reader was advised, during his visit in June 2017, that they have the incorrect meter number. On the next account, we were still billed on the old meter number up to October 2017.

We received a bill of R9 600 on April 15 this year when my journey with Ekurhuleni Municipality started. I visited their offices on two occasions and was sent from pillar to post.

We then reported the matter to Calvin Soko and Loi Moloi at Council, confirming that we were double billed, they advised that the account will be adjusted, but at the end of May, I received a bill for exactly the same meter readings.

I contacted Bruna Haipel who referred me to a certain ‘Shakes’, who is apparently the person to speak to. I sent ‘Shakes’ numerous emails, but he/she doesn’t bother to reply to emails, phone me back or sort out the problem at all.

We are receiving final demands – always on time – but no service. I strongly wish we can vote for a new council with competent, friendly and sufficient staff who actually does what they get paid for.

The EMM was contacted for comment and said that they are still investigating the matter.
