Giving back to the community at HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco Raceday

Miss South Africa 2017, Dr Adè van Heerden will do the presentation on Saturday.

RACEGOERS can place their bets at the HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco Raceday, but most importantly, it will also be a day from which the community will benefit.

“It will all be about giving back to the community,” said Miss South Africa 2017, Dr Adè van Heerden, when she steps in as ambassador at the Royal affair on Saturday at Turffontein Racecourse.

The HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco Race Day will take place on April 21 in the South. Unfortunately, HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco will not attend the race day as she did last year. She has to attend a tennis championship which will be held in Monaco over the weekend.

Van Heerden is a medical doctor, and before being crowned Miss South Africa 2017 was a lieutenant at 2 Military Hospital in Cape Town. She will be present on Saturday to hand over the winning trophies.

“Charity will be one of the biggest winners on Saturday, as some of the proceeds will go towards a chosen charity,” Miss SA said.

“I also urge racegoers to make this a Royal affair and dress up to the occasion. The men will arrive in their top hats and tuxedo while the ladies will dress up like princesses and take part in this very elegant event, but most importantly, a chance to support the beneficiaries involved.”

Supporting Johan Janse Van Vuuren stable in the main feature race of the day, She’s A Giver, Van Heerden said that it is appropriate to put some spending on his horse for the Grade 1 HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes.

Van Vuuren said, “Though She’s A Giver was drawn wide on Saturday, I think she will be in the driving seat for a great place. We have prepared her well and she is spot on for the race.”

The best-dressed couple competition will take place for patrons in the member’s lounge. The lucky couple will win a prize, sponsored by Sun International, for a two-night stay at the amazing Sun City resort.

Entrance to the lounge is R150 per head. A strict dress code of top hats and tails will apply for gents, and hats or fascinators for the ladies. Gates open at 11am.
