Fire and lightning at Boxing 5

The second edition of the Boxing 5 tournament at Turffontein Racecourse.

WALKING away with the Most Promising Promoter Award at the recently held Boxing South Africa Awards, Shereen Hunter from Unleashed Combat Sport Events is back with the second edition of the Boxing 5 tournament.

“The aim of all this is for the public to participate in pool betting on the boxing when it becomes available. We look forward to seeing the public at the event once again,” said Larry Wainstein from Phumelela.

Hunter has put the South right back to the heydays of boxing in the South and this will be no exception when she joins with the ample support of Phumelela to stage the second Tab sponsored tournament at Turffontein Racecourse on March 4. Boxing starts at 1pm, but the event will open during the morning for parents to bring their children along for entertainment and enjoy a craft beer tent and refreshments before boxing starts.

Altogether eleven bouts will be on the cards, which include one woman bout between Hedda Wolmarans and Bongani Vulkeya. They will fight over four rounds in the welterweight division.

The main bouts will feature Clement Kamanga and Willis Baloyi in the junior welterweight bout over eight rounds. “My fists will do the talking in the ring, but I am ready for a good counter-attack from Willis,” said Kamanga.
