The City of Ekurhuleni comments on illegal churches

“We undertake to give a detailed response by February 22.”

RECORD recently did a story on the many illegal churches in Palm Ridge. The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) was not able to comment in time for their comment to accompany the story, but we have since received said comment.

Here is what Themba Gadebe, spokesperson from the CoE had to say:

“Kindly be advised that the Real Estate Department, City Planning and Building Control section has established a joint working team to investigate a number of illegal contraventions by various religious organisations.

“Can we kindly be afforded 14 days indulgence in order to enable us to extensively investigate and act upon all the illegal occupiers.

“This will afford an opportunity to provide a detailed plan of action in respect of the contraventions.

“We undertake to give a detailed response by February 22.”

The RECORD will keep our readers updated with any and all information as it becomes available.
