Alcatel returns with a bang

TCL Communication Technology has announced the unaudited figures about shipments of its handsets and other products in September 2013 and for the first nine months of the year.

JOHANNESBURG – The group’s total sales volume of handsets and other products increased by 38 per cent year-on-year to 5 458 325 units in September 2013, IT Online reported on Thursday November 7.

Thanks to the launch of advanced smartphone products, the proportion of handsets in total sales continued to hit a record high and accounted for 37 per cent of the Group’s total shipments for the month.

The management expects that growth momentum in the sales of smartphones and other smart devices will be sustained throughout the year.

For the first nine months of 2013, the cumulative sales volume of handsets and other products rose by 24 per cent year-on-year to 36 027 809 units, of which, sales volume in overseas markets was 32 370 603 units and sales volume in Mainland China was 3 657 206 units.

Sales volume of smartphones and other smart devices increased by 136% year-on-year to 9 893 020 units, laying a solid foundation for the Group’s product transition.

On October 4, Alcatel OneTouch, the brand under the group, and Paris Incubateurs signed a partnership to develop an international incubation programme for start-ups in mobile technologies.

The group always focuses on providing people with a complete and simple handset experience, which adds true value to their everyday lives.

The incubation program is a great opportunity, in partnership with other start-ups, to enrich the Group’s wide range of products. It also provides international start-ups with an excellent opportunity for getting a business on track and mix and match cultures to bring new mobile offers to TCL Communication’s customers.
