Suspects caught for house break-ins

The suspects then tried to break into two other houses in Bassonia followed by a break-in on Douglas Harris Road, Meyersdal, where several items were stolen.

ACCORDING to Glenvista Community Policing Forum’s Mike Fontes, suspects have been detained at Mondeor Police Station after a search resulted in their being caught after they broke into a house on Karen Road, Bassonia.

CPF members, SOS ProtecSure and Mondeor SAPS responded to the incident and obtained a description of the vehicle used – a black 5 series BMW.

The suspects then tried to break into two other houses in Bassonia which was followed by a break-in on Douglas Harris Road, Meyersdal, where several items were stolen.

A search for the suspects was conducted by Mondeor SAPS, Mondeor CPF members, SOS ProtecSure and JMPD. The suspects were quickly detected upon entering the Glenvista area and after breaking into the Douglas Harris home. They were arrested by WO Moletsane, WO Nel and Const Koopman from Mondeor SAPS and JMPD.

The stolen items from Douglas Harris Road, as well as housebreaking implements, were recovered in the suspects’ vehicle. The suspects are being detained by Mondeor SAPS and detectives are linking them to other cases.

The community thanks SAPS, CPF members and private security for their quick and co-ordinated response.
